The Challenge

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy is a private school serving grades K through 12. The academic complex is divided into two schools: the upper school and the lower school.

Priding themselves on quality education, the school's leaders saw the need for a state-of-the-art technology system that would allow teachers and students the latest in educational opportunities.

The technology needed to be installed quickly and unobtrusively, while school was in session.

The Solution

AE Systems worked carefully with the school's planning committee and assisted in the design of robust voice, data, and video systems.

The Ranger® Media Management system was installed with televisions mounted in every instructional and gathering space. Multiple VCRs, laserdiscs, cable TV channels and other media resources were installed at the head end. An electronic bulletin board for announcements was also accommodated.

Local origination, networked remote scheduling, and lesson plan software were provided for a mixed platform environment of Macintoshes and PCs.

The Rauland-Borg Telecenter® V intercom system was implemented, and telephones were installed in all classrooms.

A Category 5 data network was installed and included the e-Clipse gateway to offer filtered Internet access throughout the network.
