The Challenge

Franklin Heights Baptist Church had outgrown its old sound system. The church desired a system that would support and enhance its expanding music ministry, while providing increased intelligibility for the spoken word. In addition to these prime considerations, renovations to the system cabling and audio-for-video and broadcast feeds were required.

The Solution

Speech reinforcement in a house of worship is best handled with a single centrally located speaker cluster. Music, however, is best addressed with a stereo speaker configuration. AE Systems provided a single point source speaker for speech reinforcement, with stereo side speakers for music playback. A subwoofer was installed to provide additionallow frequency reproduction for music playback. An EVI Audio DDA CS3, 24-channel mixing console provides true Left/Center/Right control over the mix, allowing selected input sources to be directedMixing Console to the center (voice) speaker, while tape playback, choir microphones, and other sources can be routed to the stereo playback speakers and subwoofer. This arrangement provides a very full and rich sound throughout the sanctuary.

Auxiliary mix sends from the multi-bus console provide separate recording and broadcast feeds. A new power amplifier for the subwoofer, new system cabling, and additional choir microphones were installed to complete the installation. The existing microphones, power amplifiers, and signal processing equipment were reused in the new system.

Highly intelligible speech, rich sounding music, total control over the mix - AE Systems has been providing innovative sound solutions to house of worship for over 30 years. What challenges do you have for us?
